Valves Diaphragm

Straightway & Weir-Type Diaphragm Valves

A diaphragm valve typically comprises a valve body with two or more ports, a diaphragm, and a seat upon which the diaphragm closes the valve, creating a leak-proof seal. Bayou Industrial Sales stocks weir-type and straightway diaphragm valves, which are ideal for water and wastewater treatment, chemical processing, and semiconductor manufacturing.

Straightway Diaphragm Valves

In our straightway diaphragm valves, the diaphragm completely rises away from the flow path to remove any obstruction and allow maximum flow capacity.

The valve design does not restrict the flow of fluid, and it minimizes pressure drop and flow restriction. This benefits applications that require a high flow rate or handle viscous fluids or slurries in the oil and gas industry. The straight path also reduces turbulence and is less likely to cause damage to the valve itself or erosion in the piping system.

Weir Type Diaphragm Valves

We carry ITT Dia Flow weir-type diaphragm valves, formerly known as ITT Grinnell, which contain diaphragms that seal against a raised weir or saddle in the flow path. The weir's presence allows for better throttling capabilities and more precise flow control, making it easier to achieve a finer adjustment of flow rates.

The weir also provides a smaller sealing area, which can be advantageous in applications requiring leak tightness. They are well-suited for handling clean fluids and fluids containing sediment or particulates, as the weir helps partially separate the solids when partially open.
